For this series I focused on exploring my intuition and the moments of stillness I experience during my creative process. During my creative process, I allow myself to let go of the outside world allowing me to see and think without anxiety or judgment. While creating this series, I have found that the process of making to be most important to me. Creating a piece can be compared to journaling. It allows me to visit current problems, feelings, or thoughts I am experiencing and put them onto paper giving me a chance to reflect internally and externally. The result is the interaction of each mark I make influences the next mark in a natural manner. Research for this series began in late 2015 when I began to combine printmaking, drawing, and painting techniques after searching for a way to combine my passion for mark making and layering. The result was a meditative practice that gave me a space to explore medias without being concerned about making the right or wrong mark on a piece. My work often entails the exploration of the interaction of color, shape, pattern, and line. While creating I have found myself inspired by the abstract expressionist movement which focuses on the philosophy of examining the inner life and experience of being human hope that viewers of my work can also find stillness as they experience each work on their own terms.
